Logan Square is a Northwest Side neighborhood built around its boulevards — Logan, Kedzie, and Humboldt — wide, tree-lined stretches that curve through the neighborhood and connect it to Palmer Square and Humboldt Park. The historic homes along them are genuinely jaw-dropping: grand greystones and brick mansions built more than a century ago, and some of the finest vintage architecture in Chicago.

The square itself, where the Centennial Monument stands, is the center of things. The Sunday farmers market runs there in summer and draws people from well beyond the neighborhood. The food is a real strength: Lula Cafe has been cooking on the square for more than 25 years, Longman & Eagle still earns its wait, and Milwaukee, Fullerton, and Diversey are lined with restaurants and bars. The Logan Theatre is a neighborhood favorite for cheap movies in an old, well-kept house.

Housing is classic Chicago: vintage two- and three-flats, greystones, brick single-family homes, condo conversions on the side streets, and newer construction near the train. The two- and three-flats are worth a special mention — many buyers get their start here by living in one unit and renting the other, and Logan Square remains one of the better neighborhoods in the city to do it.

The neighborhood is easy to get around without a car: the Blue Line stops at Logan Square and California reach the Loop in about 20 minutes with O'Hare a direct ride the other way, and the Milwaukee Avenue bus runs around the clock. The 606 trail picks up along the southern edge, and Palmer Square adds green space on top of the boulevards themselves.

Logan Square offers a mix of walkability, historic architecture, and housing that ranges from first condos to classic two-flats and larger single-family homes — which is why it draws such a wide range of buyers.

Logan Square FAQ

What is the condo market like in Logan Square?

Logan Square has one of the deeper condo inventories on the Northwest Side, ranging from vintage conversions to newer construction near the Blue Line. Demand has remained strong thanks to the neighborhood's walkability and access to downtown.
